Default Ice Dome.

I was doing a run today, this guy asked me to run him from droks to grotto (never done this before), i said yes, because i could run anywhere with my derv, without problems. So I got through talus chute with little trouble at all, very easy. Then came Ice Dome. Out of about a year and a half of running, i've never seen anything like this. I mean the droks run has some pretty big mobs, but they're pretty easy to get through, but Ice Dome went WAAAAAYYYYY over the line. The difficulty of getting through this place is legendary. You get absolutely no breaks at all, just constant mob after mob, full of ice golems and stone summits. Even with +10 regen and Vow of Silence, you can't get through this. One second without VoS will declare instant defeat, because the density of the ice golems will be sure that they cast Ice Spikes on you, even in one second. The melee alone just kills you damn near instantly. I don't have any idea what was going the the game makers minds when they did this, but, wow. I from now on will refrain from passing through that hell like place. Even though it's so small, over 200 foes are cramped together in it. I just can't believe it. If anyone has been able to do this, please lend me your build, lol

We had a guild party once to run through there, back in the day, Prophecies only, so most of us were W/Mo. We did this a few times and had a blast. Once I was the farthest and almost made it too, but this was of course with 5-8 other players running along with you (though we werent necessarily co-operating fully, either, lol), until they all died.

Seriously, even now, I dont know if its possible to get through there, but its been so long since I have tried with any running build on any class. Maybe there is a way now, but I kind of doubt it. Any time I had to run someone to Grotto I simply ran around or through the Ice Caves mission. Still, its hella fun to try Ice Dome.

Last I checked the only build really successful at running to grotto via Ice dome was an A/Me unfortunately I don't know the build.

Edit: friend had template: OwVS45PP8obXDE3hATzLBdG Past that I can't help.

The game makers had fighting instead of running in their minds when they made this place.

Yeah, I was thinking A/Me might be able to do it, but alas an Assassin is the one character I never got motivated to make, so have never tested it.

you can get to Grotto via snake dance -> grenths footprint -> spearhead peak -> copperhammer mines -> frozen forest -> ice floe -> marhan's grotto

alot longer sure but I believe its abit more reasonable to run.

Yeah, I usually use that route now, but it would be hella quicker to take the ice dome route :/

I once had a level 11 Assassin run me to Droks, THK, Grotto and Iron Mines. He went through Ice Dome too. The Droks runs was for tips and the rest free. Pretty cool dude.

Well, how surprising that a place called Ice Dome contained a lot of things that use water magic...

Besides, is it really that hard to do Ice Caves of Sorrow? Just doing that mission allows you do bypass Ice Dome.

Ice Dome has always been ridiculous. We managed to vanquish it in Hard Mode purely because of how easy it is to corner block at certain spots. I remember when I first zoned into it with a full hench team (already all max-DPed from all the Ice Golems and Imps). I worked off 7% before dying the first time, but it was rather vicious going through there.

Good ole' Ice Dome, first place in the Southern Shiverpeaks where me and my hench team wiped at the first mob.

Aside from that, it's just a cool little place: I love seeing those dwarven homes at the beginning, god I wish I could go in 'em.

Yeah, that's something GW lacks which annoyed me: the ability to go into houses just to explore the inside.

But there's nothing in them! The houses are just textures painted over a polygonal mesh.

Ah, but I'LL be in them! Then I can claim one as my own. Then shout at people on my lawn. Then smack them over the head with my Arbor's earth staff.

Well, the only point of Icedome seems to be to be there and annoy the h*ll out of anybody reckless enough to wander in ...

I vanquished Frozen Forest with H+H and decided to continue on to Icedome as it was not directly connected to any outpost. Getting past the loading screen and I found two members of my party dead and the rest struggling for their lives. WTF, the portal zoned me directly into 2 mobs of stone summit and one of ice golems? Apparently a bad spawn, not unheard of so I made a beeline back through the portal and took a deep breath. Through the portal to Icedome, directly into the same mobs, ensued by frantic microing to withstand the onslaught and claim a beachead since I didn't want to accumulate any more DP by trying my luck with the spawns (I do not use consumables when H+Hing). Past that point it was just a matter of careful sweeping but boy was the welcome committee heartfelt!
